General information
The conference program extends over two days. The program starts at 10.00
am on Dec. 9 (including an evening session), and finishes at 4.00 pm on
Dec. 10. Participation is open for PhD students and senior researchers
from the Nordic countries. The conference language is English, but presentations
may also be given in Swedish. Invited specialists will hold Sessions with
presentations, and PhD students will present their projects. Contributions:
Contributed papers within the conference topics listed above are invited.
A one-page abstract should be submitted by Nov. 5, 1999. Group work will
be organised around topics of interest for the future directions of research
and graduate education in materials science.
The Brinell Centre
The Brinell Centre is a strategic research centre co-ordinating research
in materials science in the Stockholm area. Research and graduate education
is conducted by 10 member institutions and 2 research institutes in close
collaboration with industry. The Brinell Centre Graduate School engages
more than 50 PhD students in different research programmes:
-
Computational Materials Science and Engineering
-
Precision Processing of Clean Steel - for Hardened Components
-
Computer Assisted Materials and Process Development of Ceramics and
nanocrystalline materials
-
Materials for high temperatures and aggressive environments
-
Surface science and coating technology
-
Inorganic interfacial engineering
Conference fee: 2500 SEK.
Conference documentation, meals, and accommodation for one night are included.
Fee without overnight accommodation: 1500 SEK (due to the evening session,
